The fauna of the Región de los Lagos is varied as the flora, but it is not so abundant. The most famous mammals are the puma, the huemul (that is a kind of deer and it is only found in our country), the vizcacha (it is a rodent that likes of rocky places of the Andes and the Altiplano). Another kind of deer is the pudú, which is very difficult to see in a wild condition.

Flora

Our country has a wide variety of plants because of the diversity of its geography and climate. In the austral area, there are trees like oaks, coigües, hazel tree, cinnamon tree, araucaria and larch-trees. The diversity of the flora in Chile is characterized to be between the limits of our territory, for that reason, the trees, bushes and climbings described are the most representative and characteristic species in the national flora.

Many of them are under extinction danger. The qualities of some woods - as the larch-tree and the araucaria -, besides the slow growing and the indiscriminate tree falling have extinguished the ancient forests.
